Ferries

Ferries are vital for connecting communities not linked by road. Marine Atlantic operates large ferries between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and either Port aux Basques or Argentia, NL—a common entry point for newcomers with vehicles. These run year-round or seasonally (Argentia), with crossings from 6 to 15 hours depending on route. More information and schedule visit Marine Atlantic.

Labrador Marine offers ferry services across the Strait of Belle Isle and along the Labrador coast, helping residents reach remote settlements. Ferry schedules can be affected by weather, and up-to-date info is found on the NL 511 app and relevant service websites.
