Private Insurance

Since MCP does not cover all healthcare services, many residents use private insurance to supplement their coverage. Private insurance is particularly useful for:
  • Prescription Medications: MCP does not cover most prescription drugs, but private plans often do.
  • Dental and Vision Care: These services are typically excluded from MCP, so private plans can provide the necessary coverage for routine dental care and eye exams.
  • Physiotherapy and Chiropractic Care: These services are not covered by MCP but are often included in private insurance plans.
  • Travel Insurance: Newcomers may also want to consider private health insurance to cover any medical needs during the initial waiting period before MCP coverage starts.
Private insurance plans can be purchased individually, but many people receive it through their employers as part of their benefits package.
