Indigenous Community
Newfoundland and Labrador, a unique province in Canada, has a rich and diverse culture that reflects a history of European, Indigenous, and maritime influences. The culture of this region is deeply rooted in the customs and traditions of the peoples who have inhabited it since time immemorial, including the Inuit, Mi’kmaq, and Beothuk. Although the Beothuk became extinct in the 19th century, their descendants and the cultures of the Inuit and Mi’kmaq remain central to the regional identity.
