Permanent Resident

A permanent resident (PR) in Canada is a person who has been authorized by the Canadian government to live and work in the country indefinitely, but who is not a Canadian citizen. Becoming a permanent resident is an important step toward Canadian citizenship, and many permanent residents eventually apply for citizenship once they meet the additional requirements.
