Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM)
The Journey Project: The Journey Project supports individuals who have experienced sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence by helping them navigate the legal system in Newfoundland and Labrador. It provides plain-language legal information, system navigation support, referrals to community resources, and access to free legal advice through trauma-informed and survivor-centered services. Family Dispute Resolution (FDR): Family Dispute Resolution is a service of Family Justice Services that helps families resolve family law issues outside of court. It offers mediation, parent education programs, and support related to parenting arrangements and child support, promoting cooperative and respectful solutions during separation or divorce. Service NL – Landlord & Tenant Division: The Landlord & Tenant Division of Service NL administers the Residential Tenancies Act and supports both landlords and tenants. It provides information, mediation, and dispute resolution services related to rental agreements, rent increases, evictions, and tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities. Community Justice Connect (Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission): Community Justice Connect is a free, voluntary, and confidential program that helps individuals, communities, and organizations address conflict, discrimination, and experiences of racism. Labour Standards Division: The Labour Standards Division enforces the Labour Standards Act in Newfoundland and Labrador. It helps employees and employers understand minimum employment standards, including wages, hours of work, overtime, vacation pay, and statutory holidays, and provides support for resolving workplace complaints.
