Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to fostering a society rooted in anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Numerous organizations across the province offer resources and programs to support these values. Here are some key organizations and initiatives:
- Anti-Racism Coalition of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARC-NL): Established in 2017, ARC-NL actively works to counter all forms of racism by promoting a culture of anti-racism through community-building and educational initiatives.
- Association for New Canadians (ANC) – Diversity & Public Education Program: The ANC offers training and workshops to businesses, schools, and community organizations to promote cultural awareness, anti-racism, and inclusive workplace practices.
- City of St. John's Anti-Racism Working Group: A municipal initiative focused on developing and implementing plans that promote diversity and inclusion while actively addressing racism within the city.
- Coalition of Persons with Disabilities Newfoundland and Labrador (COD-NL): Incorporated in 1983, COD-NL is a provincial, cross-disability organization advocating for an inclusive and equitable society. They offer programs such as adaptive technology access, inclusive education, and awareness initiatives.
- InclusionNL: This organization partners with businesses and employers to enhance workplace accessibility and inclusion for individuals with disabilities, offering guidance on hiring practices and customer interactions.
- Memorial University’s Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR): This office offers resources and skills development programs to foster an inclusive university environment, including partnerships with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion.
- Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services’ Accessibility Plan: A two-year plan aimed at improving access to healthcare services for persons with disabilities, focusing on inclusivity and equitable healthcare outcomes.
- Women in Resource Development Corporation: WRDC (Women in Resource Development Corporation) delivers tailored Gender and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) services to help organizations foster inclusive, equitable workplaces.
- YWCA St. John’s: Building on a deep history as a women-serving agency, we remain committed to gender equity, and to creating opportunities for girls, women, and gender diverse folks to learn, achieve, and participate.
